About Journall
History is like a mosaic or a jigsaw puzzle. It's only complete when all the pieces are included. Every event, every experience, every micro-story adds depth, richness, and complexity to our understanding of the world and our existence.
The problem is, history is often presented through a limited lens. When versions of events are agreed upon by a small group and allowed to calcify over time, the majority becomes discounted. Journall began in 2009 as a way to include the massive percentage of personal stories left to be told.
Your stories are valuable because:
- Having multiple accounts more accurately presents the truth than only having one person's perspective or recollection.
- Without including more people of color, women, people in developing countries, and anyone else typically excluded by historical documentation, history isn't true, complete, or accurate.
Truth can be found in all of us.
Journall is redefining how history is recorded and shared by honoring all those who live it: people from every race and orientation, every income level, every industry, and every walk of life.
We need your firsthand stories about bravery, humility, survival, tribulation, inequality, and acceptance. The things that make up everyday life inform how the past is remembered.
Every story matters.
Not just the ones in our textbooks. History should reflect what is real rather than what we're told.
Our Vision
A world in which all voices are heard, remembered, and valued as part of a collective historic record.
Our Mission
Challenge history's monolithic narrative by providing a platform that empowers people to share their stories and ensures truth belongs to the many, not the few.
